MPYC did it once again!

On 13 May 2007, MPYC collaborated with the International Festival Chorus (IFC) in the concert ‘A Musical Extravaganza’, singing delightful tunes from Broadway musicals, such as Les Miserables and the Andrew Lloyd Webber medley. Apart from the combined items (some of which were sung to the accompaniment of the Singapore Polytechnic Symphonic Band), MPYC presented a solo item of the West Side Story medley, exemplifying the choir’s showmanship. Not only had the choristers sung, but also showed off their colourful retro costumes and tidy dance steps. The performance received favourable reviews, with the audience complimenting the colourful and impressive presentation.

He Comes At Christmastide

8 December 2007, Esplanade Concert Hall

Come December, MPYC will collaborate once again with IFC to perform in a year-end concert organized by the Singapore Choral Association. In an effort to spread early Christmas cheer, the combined chorus will perform He comes at Christmastide, a 20-minute cantata by American composer Robert H. Young.

Dr Young is renowned for his gorgeous acappella writing. To date, he has more then 90 published choral compositions in print. He comes at Christmastide is a medley of Advent and Christmas Anthems composed for mixed choir and strings.

Mark this date in your diary to celebrate Christmas in advance with MPYC and IFC!

MPYC is constantly on a look out for new choristers in all voice parts to join us. If you are able to read notes, sing solfege (i.e. translating notes to “do-re-mi”), and enjoy performing choral works from all genres, then you might be the one we are looking for!

Do email us at mpychoir@yahoo.com to indicate your interest.

Our practice is held on every Saturday, 3pm till 6pm. Venue is at 9C Sam Leong Mansion, Sam Leong Road.
